In the light of critical changes in the climate, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has started electric rickshaws to contribute their share towards climate conservation. Bezos announces the rollout of 10,000 all-electric rickshaws for Prime delivery trucks in India. This move is to promote the 'Zero Carbon by 2030', which is prevalent across the world in order to support the climate conservation drive.

Bezos acknowledged the rollout by sharing a video clip on her social media handles with a caption that says, 'Hey, India. We're rolling out our new fleet of electric delivery rickshaws. Fully electric. Zero carbon. #ClimatePledge’.

Amazon has set a target of 100,000 of eco-friendly vehicles to roam in the streets by the next decade, which aims to save four million metric tons of carbon. The clip that Bezos has shared on social media shows how he leads a team of delivery drivers through a grassy area to show the vehicle's capabilities. He is also seen jumping into the vehicles with quite an enthusiasm.

In his last visit to India, Bezos said, " The 21st century is going to be an Indian century’ while revealing his company’s profile to help create a $10 billion market for Indian exports by 2025." About the manufacturing and functioning of these energy-efficient rickshaws, he says, "The automobiles include three- and four-wheeled models that were both designed and built in India."

In a statement, Amazon further mentions, "Amazon India has been working with several Indian OEMs to build a fleet of vehicles that ensure sustainable and safe deliveries of customer orders."

As for the year 2020, some major Indian cities like Delhi-NCR, Pune, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore can found these vehicles roaming around in the streets and the number will grow gradually.
