Tropical Storm Podul that induced heavy rains and fierce winds in Vietnam has now crossed the country while weakening into a Depression. Currently, it is over Laos and situated at 17’N and 106’E.
In next 12 hours, storm Podul will cross through Thailand, where it could spend around 48 hours before reaching Burma. The tropical storm is expected to enter again into the Bay of Bengal as a Low-Pressure Area around 1st or 2nd September (Sunday or Monday).
After bringing disastrously gusty winds along with thundershowers over North Philippines, Storm Podul may cross close to the southern province of China, Hainan today, 30th August 2019. Podul could bring locally damaging winds & heavy showers to the southern parts of the island. Authorities have already put the residents of Hainan on alert against any possible mishap.
After that the Storm can make a landfall in North Vietnam on Friday. Podul is expected to lose its intensity after the landfall and before it travels further into the Bay of Bengal. The tropical storm will take the system 4 more days until it emerges in the Bay of Bengal. The system could affect the Indian mainland in a mild way when it approaches the Bay.

On the other hand, the axis of Monsoon Trough is slowly shifting northwards and will remain in the vicinity of Delhi for the next few days. Due to this movement, patchy rainfall & thundershower activities will start in the National Capital and its adjoining regions from today afternoon.
The intensity will increase by tomorrow and on and off showers will appear in the region. These activities will continue for a week, till 6th September, with increased intensity between 3rd & 5th September.
Besides this, a Cyclonic Circulation will form over Western part of Uttar Pradesh, most probably around 1st September. It must be noted that whenever two weather systems merge, the result is increased rainfall activity. Rains will surely bring down the soaring temperatures and make the weather in Delhi pleasant and comfortable.
