PAN – Aadhaar Linking Last Date: If you are PAN Card Holder then this news is for you! The Govt has announced 31 March 2022 as the last date to get your PAN & Aadhar linked. In case you fail to do so, you will be liable to pay Rs 1000 as a late fee.
It's important to note that by linking your PAN and Aadhaar, the government will be able to easily trace your financial transactions, preventing fraud and tax avoidance. The deadline for linking your PAN to your Aadhaar card has been extended several times by the government.
As per the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Permanent Account Number (PAN) cardholders should link their Aadhaar Card Number by March 31, before the last date.
Is it Mandatory to Link PAN with Aadhaar?
Under the current laws, it is mandatory to link your PAN with your Aadhaar number. Further, it is mandatory to quote your Aadhaar number at the time of filing an income tax return (ITR), and also to avail monetary benefits from the government such as pension, scholarship, LPG subsidy, etc.
How to Link PAN with Aadhaar? Step by Step Process
Individuals must now follow a few simple steps to link their Aadhaar numbers to their PAN numbers. The following are the details:
Step 1: Register on the new website, keeping in mind that the PAN will be used as a user ID.
Step 2: Enter your User ID, password, and date of birth to log in.
Step 3: You'll see a pop-up window appear. If the window does not appear, go to the Menu bar and select 'Profile Settings', then 'Link Aadhaar'. ’
Step 4: As per the PAN information, details such as name, date of birth, and gender would already be mentioned.
Step 5: Compare the PAN information on the screen to the information on the Aadhaar card.
Step 6: Enter the Aadhaar number and click the "connect now" button if the details match.
Step 7: You will see a notice stating that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked to your PAN.
