Agripreneurship Development Programme Inspires Horticulture Students and Budding Agripreneurs to Explore Opportunities in Citrus Sector

ICAR-CCRI hosted 'Citriसारथि 1.0' in Nagpur, aiming to inspire horticulture students and aspiring agripreneurs. The programme featured technical sessions, field visits, and networking to promote agripreneurship in India's citrus sector.

ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute (ICAR-CCRI) organized the Agripreneurship Development Programme, 'Citriसारथि 1.0', on March 3-4, 2025, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, under the aegis of CitriHub, the Agribusiness Incubation Centre of ICAR-CCRI. The event aimed to inspire horticulture students and budding agripreneurs to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in the citrus sector.

The inaugural session was attended by Dr. Dilip Ghosh, Director of ICAR-CCRI, who outlined the key objectives of the programme. Dr. Ghosh highlighted the vital role of the horticultural sector in India’s food production and agrarian economy. He also emphasized the growing agripreneurial ecosystem in India, citing the success stories of students and entrepreneurs who have thrived by seizing available opportunities with dedication and hard work.

The two-day programme included technical sessions that covered various aspects of agripreneurship and potential business opportunities in the citrus industry. Participants also had the opportunity to visit progressive citripreneurs involved in commercial citrus production and marketing. To further enrich the learning experience, attendees toured the ICAR-CCRI nursery and research farm, gaining valuable insights into the latest advancements in citrus research.

A total of 28 university students and aspiring agripreneurs attended the programme, participating in interactive sessions and networking opportunities. The event aimed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, encouraging them to pursue innovative agripreneurial ventures.
