Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will launch Special Campaign 5.0 from October 2 to 31, 2025, with a focus on Swachhata, reducing pendency in government offices and ensuring proper disposal of e-waste. The drive, being conducted under the guidelines of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, also aims to improve the overall experience of citizens in their dealings with government offices.
During last year’s Special Campaign 4.0, the department cleaned 1,791 sites across the country, freed nearly 55,473 square feet of space and disposed of more than 11,299 kg of waste. The initiative also generated over Rs 61 lakh in revenue from scrap disposal. On the governance side, 22,269 public grievances were resolved, 53,660 physical files were reviewed and 19,241 redundant files were weeded out.
For this year’s campaign, the department has appointed a nodal officer and directed all its divisions, subordinate offices, PSUs, autonomous bodies and authorities to actively participate. The Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has already held meetings with senior officials to chalk out the action plan. Two rounds of virtual meetings, chaired by the Joint Secretary, have also been held with nodal officers to identify targets for the preparatory phase.
The focus areas include cleanliness drives, space management, disposal of scrap and redundant items, e-waste management, and clearing pending references from MPs, state governments, Parliament assurances, inter-ministerial communications, PMO references and public grievances. Record management is also a key component of the campaign.
The implementation phase of Special Campaign 5.0 will begin on October 2, 2025. The department aims to replicate and surpass last year’s achievements by ensuring maximum participation from all its divisions and field offices, thereby institutionalizing cleanliness and efficiency within the government system.
