The Aadhaar card's regulatory agency, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has introduced a new interactive voice response (IVR) technology-based customer service that would be accessible free for 24x7. To use the IVR-enabled services, customers must dial the toll-free number 1947. They can use it to check the status of their PVC cards, Aadhaar updates, or to get information through SMS.

There is no technical knowledge required for this 24-hour interactive voice response service. IVR is a technology that enables voice interactions between telephone users and computer-controlled telephone systems. The voice tries to respond to user questions or, if necessary, transfers the call to the rightful recipient.

UIDAI also starts AI/ML based chat support

Online chat support powered by artificial intelligence or machine learning has been launched by UIDAI to make it simpler for users to verify the status of their Aadhaar or PVC cards. It will enable better customer interaction and provide answers to their questions immediately.

Residents can submit grievances, follow the progress of their Aadhaar PVC cards, and more with the help of chat support.

UIDAI enables ‘Head of Family’ based online address update

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced to enable "Head of Family" based online address change in Aadhaar, which would simplify the requirements and process for changing a person's address on their Aadhaar card.

According to the UIDAI circular, people can now update their address in their Aadhaar online with the approval of their Head of Family (HOF).

The relative(s) of a resident, such as children, spouse, parents, etc., who lack supporting papers in their own names to update their address in their Aadhaar, will benefit greatly from the HoF based online address update in Aadhaar. Within 30 days of the service request date, the HoF may accept or reject a request.

It may be done by presenting a Proof of Relationship document, such as a ration card, mark sheet, marriage certificate, passport, etc., stating the applicant's name, the HOF's name, and the nature of their relationship before the HOF authenticates the document using an OTP. If the resident cannot present a Proof of Relationship document, UIDAI allows them to submit a self-declaration from the HOF in the format required by UIDAI.

This option would be in addition to the ability to change an address using any valid Proof of Address document that UIDAI has approved. Any resident who is at least 18 years old can be a HOF and provide his or her relatives' access to their address.
