Aadhaar Card is an important document for every Indian in today's time. While there are many services related to Aadhar that you can avail online sitting at home, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to discontinue two important services.
What are the services that are closed by UIDAI?
The two services that UIDAI has discontinued are;
Address Validation Letter
Unique Identification Authority of India stopped the facility of updating address in Aadhar card through the Address Validation Letter till further orders. Tenants & other Aadhar card holders were able to update address through this facility. UIDAI removed the option related to Address Validation Letter from its website.
When contacted through twitter UIDAI said, “Dear Resident, the facility of address validation letter has been stopped till further orders. You can update your address through any one address through any one address from the list of other valid address proofs (https://uidai.gov.in/images/commdoc/valid_documents_list.pdf).
What will be the effect on common people
Due to this decision, people will have to face trouble in updating the address in Aadhar card, who live on rent or those who do not have any other documents available for amendment of the address.
Aadhaar Card Reprint
UIDAI stopped the service of Aadhaar Card Reprint in old pattern. Now the UIDAI issues plastic PVC cards instead of long and wide Aadhar cards as before. This card is in the size of a Debit card and can be easily carried in pocket and wallet. Because of this, UIDAI has discontinued the old-style card.
In response to user's query on Twitter, UIDAI tweeted, "Dear Resident, Order Aadhaar Reprint service has been suspended. You can order Aadhaar PVC Card online. At the same time, if you want, you can also take a print out of E-Aadhaar and keep it in the paper format.
