Punjabi lecturers will soon receive their salary by the University Grants Commission (UGC) pay ranges. For the pay of university lecturers, the UGC has adopted the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
As a result, the academic staff at colleges and institutions run by the Punjab government will now receive a salary according to the pay matrix established by the 7th Pay Commission.
On Monday, September 5, 2022, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the state's colleges and institutions would begin using UGC pay standards.
7th Pay Commission Implementation Date in Punjab:
According to the CM's declaration, Punjab would begin using the UGC pay scale based on the 7th Pay Commission from the following month (October).
According to CM Mann, who was quoted by PTI, the UGC 7th Pay Commission will go into effect on October 1, 2022, at all colleges and universities in Punjab.
Following the revision of pay scales for employees of the Central Government on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission, the University Grants Commission (UGC) announced the plan for revising the pay of teachers and equivalent cadres in universities and colleges in a letter dated January 30, 2018. (CPC).
In the letter, it was stated that "the revision of pay scales of teachers and equivalent academic staff shall be subject to various provisions of this Scheme of revision of pay scales as contained in the enclosed letters and Regulations issued by UGC and amendments thereof from time to time in this behalf."
"The Scheme shall apply to all teachers and other equivalent academic staff in all Central Universities and Colleges thereunder, as well as the Institutions, Deemed to be Universities whose maintenance expenses are covered by the UGC. Universities putting this Scheme into effect must modify the applicable laws and regulations by the UGC Regulations, it continued.
Under the aforementioned UGC program, the revised pay and revised rates of dearness allowance went into effect on January 1, 2016.
