7th Pay Commission latest update: Several states recently hiked the dearness allowance for their employees in an effort to cheer up the government employees as they welcomed the New Year. The change occurs as central government employees expect an increase in DA in the upcoming months.

A DA hike will probably be announced by the Center soon. The Center has already announced a 3% DA increase for its employees in January and a 4% increase starting in July 2022. The DA was raised to 38% after the second increment. The Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) are updated twice a year, on January 1 and July 1 of each year, and the Central Government Employees must be aware of this.

The hike in DA to employees was announced by the Central government on September 28 of last year, and it was estimated to have additional financial consequences of Rs 6,591.36 crore annually and Rs 4,394.24 crore in the fiscal year 2022–23.

At this point, a 4% increase in DA in January 2023 seems likely. According to some media sources, the dearness allowance hike in January 2023 will be similar to the allowance issued around Diwali last year.

According to some reports, the hike in DA will be announced in January 2023, and as it has historically been the case that its implementation date falls in January, the Central government employees will also receive the arrears at that time.
