7th Pay Commission Latest News: 2021 was a year of good news for central government employees. They received a pay raise, a DA raise, and a DR raise. The New Year, on the other hand, will be no less than this one. According to the most recent information, the Central government plans to refund their dearness allowance (DA) arrears, which have been lingering for the past 18 months, in January 2022. They will receive more than Rs 2 lakh in DA arrears in the New Year, according to calculations.
DA & DR Restored To 31%
According to various media reports, the Union Cabinet is planning to consider this issue at its next meeting. The Dearness Allowances and Dearness Relief were restored to 31 percent from 17 percent by the central government in October of this year. However, they are yet to receive the arrears.
As per the reports, the Union Cabinet has proposed a one-time payment sum for DA arrears, which has been on hold for the past 18 months.
Centre Distributes DA & DR Twice A Year
It is important to highlight that the Centre distributes DA and DR twice a year to compensate employees and retirees for inflation or general price increases. The DA increase was put on hold in May 2020 owing to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Centre, on the other hand, began boosting DA on June 30, 2021. However, no judgment on the arrears was made at the time.
Level 1 & Level 13 Employees To Get DA Arrear
According to estimates, the DA arrear amount for Level-1 employees might range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554, while the arrear amount for Level-13 personnel could range from Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200. The Union cabinet is anticipated to make a decision on the DA arrears soon.
