Government employees who have been waiting for DA may soon receive good news. The 18-month wait for DA arrears is officially over. The government is considering giving up to Rs 2 lakh in DA all at once. Employees have been requesting for a long time that DA be discontinued from January 2020 to June 2021.
Employees in the government hope that the administration will consider granting DA arrears shortly. The outstanding DA is constantly demanded by leaders of many employee groups. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Finance Ministry halted the DA hike in May 2020 until June 30, 2021.
How Much DA Will You Get?
For a long time, there has been a heated dispute among employees about how much DA they will receive. Level 1 employees' DA arrears will range from Rs 11880 to Rs 37000.
At the same time, level 13 employees will receive DA arrears ranging from Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200. Government and public sector employees, as well as pensioners, are eligible for DA.
The amount of dearness allowance that will be increased is determined by the AICPI numbers. In March 2022, the AICPI index increased, indicating that the government will be able to boost Dearness Allowance (DA) by 5%, not 3. If this is authorized, the DA of the employees will increase from 34 percent to 39 percent.
How Much Will Your Salary Increase?
If there is a 39 percent dearness allowance, employees with a basic income of Rs 56,900 will receive a DA of Rs 21,622.
At the moment, Rs 19,346 is being received at a 34 percent rate. The pay would increase by Rs 2,276 as a result of the 4% increase in DA. That means, the annual wage will increase by around Rs 27,312.
