Big news for the country's lakhs of Central Government employees. The Government intends to raise the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees once more. According to reports, the DA Hike would be hiked by 4 percent this time.
What is Dearness Allowance (DA)?
The center pays Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees and pensioners to offset the impact of inflation. Under the 7th Pay Commission, central personnel’s DA is increased twice a year.
In September, the DA was raised by 4%. The increase in DA is determined by a variety of factors, including the AICPI Index (All India Consumer Price Index), which changes every month. Nonetheless, it had a significant increase in November last year.
Central Government Employees to Get 4% DA Hike:
Employees of the Central Government presently receive a DA of 34%. If the government increases the DA by 4% in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations, the dearness allowance for central employees will be 38%. According to the 7th Pay Commission's suggestion, the Centre revises the DA twice a year (in January & July).
If the government agrees to raise the DA, it will immediately help thousands of individuals working in various government sectors.
Currently, there are around 50 lakh central workers, with 65 lakh retired central employees receiving pensions. As a result, more than 1.15 crore people will benefit from the DA increase.
