The demand for a dearness allowance (DA) hike by more than 50 lakh central government employees may be fulfilled this holiday season, according to sources. Reports suggested that the Narendra Modi-led administration would make a significant announcement regarding the DA hike this Navratri, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
However, a formal announcement about the likely time and day is still pending. It is advised that government workers avoid believing any fake news.
For central government employees and pensioners, the Centre approved a 3% increase in the dearness allowance (DA) in March 2022. In a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet committee on economic affairs made the decision.
Is center planning a 4% DA hike for employees?
4% DA increases for central government employees may be announced by the government if reports are to be believed.
If the reports are true, the DA for central government employees will increase from 34% to 38% of the basic wage. The Gujarat government had earlier in December approved a retrospective January 1, 2022 DA increase of 3% for government employees under the 7th Pay Commission.
How to calculate Dearness Allowance?
Between January and July, the Dearness Allowance for Central Government employees is typically amended twice a year.
By dividing the base wage by the current dearness allowance rate, the dearness allowance is calculated.
