The Central government has made an important statement regarding the promotion of secretariat level staff at a time when lakhs of central government employees are waiting for news regarding the Dearness Allowance hike.
The Department of Personnel & Training is now prepared with the next group of officers to be promoted in the following two to three weeks, just days after giving mass promotions to over 8,000 government workers from three important secretariat services. In a meeting with a group of Central Secretariat Official Language Service Group-A officers on Tuesday, Union Minister Jitendra Singh made the announcement.
After overcoming all legal obstacles to promoting 8,089 employees, 4,734 from the Central Secretariat Service (CSS), 2,966 from the Central Secretariat Stenographers' Service (CSSS), and 389 from the Central Secretariat Clerical Service, Singh stated that moving forward, all promotions will be more straightforward (CSCS).
Latest news on DA hike:
According to media reports, the good news about the Dearness Allowance (DA) increase may be announced by next month for the thousands of central government employees who are anxiously awaiting the announcement.
The AICP Index, a key component in determining the DA, shows that an increase in the DA of the central government is likely in May. In July, the government might have more good news to share with the workforce. Now, if recent media reports are to be believed, the employees' dearness allowance may increase by 4%. This suggests that the overall DA could be as high as 38%.
You may recall that the Union Cabinet increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) on March 30 to account for the price increase, benefiting more than 1.16 crore central government employees and retirees. The increases ranged from 3% to 34%.
The additional payment will start to be due on January 1, 2022. The rise follows the approved formula, which was developed based on the suggestions made by the 7th Central Pay Commission.
