The three-day meeting (27-29 March 2023) will begin today and will focus on thematic areas such as halting land degradation, accelerating ecosystem restoration, and enriching biodiversity; encouraging resource efficiency and circular economy; and promoting a sustainable and climate resilient blue economy.
During the meeting, special presentations will be made on significant programmes such as Namami Gange, Climate Resilient Infrastructure, Participatory Ground Water Management, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Swachh Bharat Mission. The meeting is expected to be inaugurated on March 28th by Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Union Minister of State (Railways & Textiles), Government of India.
During the meeting's excursions, delegates will have the opportunity to experience a blend of contemporary and tradition. The Adalaj Vav- Ancient Stepwell will illustrate India's historic water management skills, and the Sabarmati syphon will showcase India's engineering prowess. Delegates will also be able to experience Gujarat's unique cultural traditions through specially curated dance and music performances, as well as sample the local food, during their visit.
The meeting will begin with a side event on Water Resources Management organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, during which G20 member countries will showcase best practices on the subject. The last day will include further technical seminars as well as a discussion of the final Ministerial Communique outline.

During the meeting, various organizations under the Ministry of Jal Shakti will set up stalls on various themes such as Atal Bhujal Yojana, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan Mission, Namami Gange, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, National Water Mission, and so on, showcasing and sharing high-quality work with the delegates.
The second ECSWG meeting is an important step in advancing the work of G20 governments, invitee countries, and international organizations towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
