The PM-Kisan Scheme launched in interim budget 2019-20 by the central government has come into practice after the transfer of the first instalment of Rs 2,000 each to over one crore farmers.
Launching the scheme from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur, the prime minister said the first instalment of money under the scheme has been deposited in accounts of 1.01 crore farmers and those who didn’t get it on Sunday will get it in due course. PM also said that this is a farmer's money and no one can take it from them. The prime minister said the scheme has been made foolproof so that no one can take away the right of the farmers. There is no role of middleman in this scheme.
At a two-day farmers' conclave at Gorakhpur on February 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also declared the transfer of Rs 25,000 crore into the bank accounts of more than 12 crore farmers across the country.
Following the announcement, the first instalment of Rs 2,000 under the income benefit scheme will be handed over to farmers. According to experts, this move by the government is being considered as the political stroke instead of some beneficiary scheme for the upliftment of the farmers.
The fund of Rs 75,000 crore has been sanctioned to fund the PM-KISAN scheme and more funds have been promised in near future.
