1st Advance Estimates of Sugar Production for 2024-25 Sugar Season: Ample Sugar Availability Expected

On July 30, 2024, ISMA released its preliminary estimates for the 2024-25 sugar season, forecasting a gross sugar production of 333 lakh tons. This estimate was based on satellite imagery from the third week of June 2024 and field reports, assuming normal monsoon conditions.

As part of the regular monitoring process, a follow-up satellite imagery was taken in the third week of October 2024, and the findings were reviewed during the Executive Committee meeting held on November 5, 2024. The crop condition in key sugarcane-producing states appears to be favourable, with field reports in alignment with the satellite imagery.

As a result, ISMA is now releasing its first advance estimate for the 2024-25 sugar season, maintaining the same gross production figure of 333 lakh tons (before diversion) as indicated in the preliminary estimate. The details are provided in the table below:

The ample availability of sugar, as indicated above, will not only ensure a comfortable stock for domestic consumption and support the Ethanol Blending Program (EBP), but will also create opportunities for exports. This will help maintain the financial liquidity of sugar mills, facilitating timely payments to farmers.
