Livestock is the most important factor for employment and poverty alleviation in Rajasthan as the 61 percent of the area under Rajasthan is arid and rainfed dry land. There are 151 smart NICRA villages have been developed in diverse agriculture sectors in the country and the successes of these villages need to be replicated to show the impact of technology interventions on all the components in convergence mode.
Dr S K Singh, Director, ATARI, Jodhpur informed in his inaugural address about the progress made by NICRA in One day Review Meeting of National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (Technology Demonstration Component) of ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur has been organized at ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur. He further opined that information on upscaling and out-scaling of technologies is to be done by KVKs so that the translation of agriculture into a business model could be possible.
Dr. J V N S Prasad, Coordinator-NICRA TDC, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad urged the participants to up-scale the most successful and scalable technologies in nearby villages. He further emphasized to take up new intervention models which have direct bearing with the climate changes.
He also stressed upon for improving soil organic carbon status and efficient recycling of biomass and efficient use of the soil health cards.
In the technical sessions all the Senior Scientists & Heads/PIs of the NICRA-KVKs of Rajasthan and Haryana presented the salient achievements of out scaled technologies during last year and action plan for 2018-19.
