Division of Plant Physiology at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) in New Delhi is inviting applications for an online interview for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position. This position is funded by the Department of Science and Technology - Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB), Government of India, under an ongoing project. The position is unreserved and temporary.

Essential Qualifications:

Master’s degree in relevant subjects such as Plant Biotechnology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or Microbiology with a 4-5 year Bachelor's degree.

Candidates with a postgraduate degree in basic sciences with a 3-year Bachelor's degree and a 2-year Master’s degree must have a NET qualification and 2 years of research experience as specified in various official memorandums by the Council and DST.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of rice, soybean, or mustard.

Expertise in genome editing of plants, molecular cloning, molecular analysis of transgenic plants, and other basic molecular techniques.
Age Limit

Maximum age of 35 years for men applying for SRF/JRF positions.

Age relaxation of 5 years for women and candidates from SC/ST/OBC categories as per Government of India/ICAR rules.
Interview Details
The tentative date for the online interview is set for July 2, 2024. Any changes to the interview schedule will be communicated to the selected candidates.
These positions are purely temporary and will be filled on a contractual basis for an initial period of six months or until the project ends, whichever is earlier. The tenure may be extended based on the incumbent's satisfactory performance. There is no provision for re-engagement after the termination of the scheme. Selected candidates will not be eligible to claim regular appointment at ICAR-IARI as the fellowship is co-terminus with the respective scheme.
