UPL, a global provider of sustainable agricultural products, has been awarded Best Patents Portfolio and Best Trademarks Portfolio in the Life Science and Agriculture, Large Enterprises category at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Industrial IP Awards for the fourth consecutive year.
UPL was recognized for its creation of products that meet farmers’ needs and advance the transition to more sustainable food systems. Examples of UPL’s successful R&D and innovation cited in the award include its Zeba Biosolution input and the ProNutiva programme, both of which have proven extremely successful among farmers. UPL currently holds over 1700 granted patents and about 3500 pending applications.
Jai Shroff, Global CEO of UPL, said: “We are humbled by this award and proud that our commitment to innovation and R&D within agriculture has been recognized. We will never rest on our mission to Reimagine Sustainability in agriculture to deliver the highest results for farmers, stakeholders, consumers, and the planet as we work to sustainably transform food systems worldwide."
Dr. Vishal Sodha, UPL’s Global Intellectual Property Head, accepted the award at a CII Industrial IP Award 2022 Ceremony on behalf of UPL, saying: “We are an IP-driven enterprise and we will continue to foster an innovative, sustainability-focused, and farmer-centric IP culture. This award for the best trademarks portfolio is a testament that we are creating and protecting strong brands that sustainably meet the needs of farmers, crops, communities and consumers.”
UPL is focused on accelerating progress for the food system. It is building a network that is reimagining sustainability, redefining the way an entire industry thinks and works- open to fresh ideas, innovation, and new answers as we strive towards our mission to make every single food product more sustainable.
The CII Industrial IP Awards celebrates enterprises that have championed intellectual property development and protection to boost both their own businesses and wider economic growth. The CII award follows an IP Excellence Award awarded to UPL this year by Questel for its advanced products and solutions.
