Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) has come up with a free tractor rental scheme to support the small farmers in Tamil Nadu during the ongoing cropping season.
According to a company press release, the scheme would cover approximately 1,20,000 acres and support approximately 50,000 farmers from May to July. Small farmers with 2 acres or less will be able to rent 16,500 Massey Ferguson and Eicher tractors and 26,800 implements for free, according to TAFE.
Farmers can rent them via TAFE's digital network, which is accessible through the Tamil Nadu government's Uzhavan app, or by calling 1800-4200-100.
Government aid is provided
According to the firm, the scheme will be implemented with the assistance of Tamil Nadu's Agriculture Department and district officials. The total cost of TAFE's contributions to COVID-19 relief is Rs 15 crore, according to the company.
The free tractor rental scheme comes on top of the Amalgamations Group's previous contributions of oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinder acquisition, and funding for the proposed mass immunisation program, according to a press release.
“TAFE is pleased to provide free rental services to small and marginal farmers in Tamil Nadu, thanks to the encouragement and help of the Tamil Nadu government. The statement quoted Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director of TAFE, as saying, "TAFE will sell its Massey Ferguson and Eicher tractors, as well as farm implements, to help small and marginal farmers during this critical period and crucial cropping season."
