Swaraj Tractors, a trusted name among farmers and a leading brand in the domestic tractor industry under the Mahindra Group has been conferred with the prestigious Bhamashah Award by the Government of Rajasthan, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to community development in the state.
The award acknowledges Swaraj Division’s impactful efforts in strengthening government schools in Jodhpur district during FY 2024-25, particularly through the installation of rooftop rainwater harvesting systems and provision of teaching-learning materials to enhance the quality of education.
This honour reflects the Division’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and its proactive efforts in addressing critical issues such as water scarcity and fluoride contamination, challenges that have long impacted rural Rajasthan. In partnership with Sarv Mangal Gramin Vikas Sansthan, Swaraj Division has been driving a wide-ranging initiative across 78 villages, 20 blocks, and 8 districts, focused on improving access to clean drinking water for both communities and livestock, along with enabling irrigation support for local agriculture.
Over the past six years, the initiative has delivered several tangible outcomes. These include the renovation of 18 traditional water bodies, which have collectively generated nearly 3.72 million cubic metres of water for drinking and agricultural use. To ensure a steady and safe water supply for school children, rooftop rainwater harvesting tanks have been installed in 57 Government schools, adding 5.7 million litres of clean water supply.
These efforts have had a transformative impact, directly benefitting over 48000 individuals, around 37000 livestock, and more than 3000 hectares of agricultural land contributing meaningfully to the region’s health, education, and farming ecosystem.
The Bhamashah Award stands as a testament to Swaraj Division’s long-term vision of empowering rural communities through targeted, high-impact interventions. By integrating sustainability with social responsibility, Swaraj continues to play a vital role in building resilient, self-reliant villages across the country.
