Rallis India Ltd., a TATA Enterprise and a major player in the Indian Agri inputs market, has announced the launch of two new products, CAPSTONE and ZAAFU, designed to combat various types of neck blast and sheath blight.
Rallis India Ltd.'s fungicide portfolio is well-known in the market, and the company expects CAPSTONE and ZAAFU to account for more than 10% of its crop protection portfolio's fungicide category. It is believed it was critical to introduce an agri-solution that protects the crop from deadly diseases such as Neck Blast and Sheath Blight because paddy is one of the most important food crops in India, feeding more than 60% of the population.
Neck Blast is one of the most damaging diseases in paddy. Superinfestations may have caused it to spiral out of control by the time management is attempted after it manifests. Because of the direct impact of the neck (and node) blast on the panicle, affected plants experience extremely high yield losses. Rallis India introduces CAPSTONE to the Indian market for the first time to treat this disease. The main components of CAPSTONE are fenoxanil and isoprothialane.
Isoprothiolane inhibits lipid biosynthesis, while Fenoxanil inhibits melanin biosynthesis. Farmers in India will now have access to a Fenoxanil-containing mixture for the first time. This product was developed in India in collaboration with Nihon Nohyaku, a Japanese company that develops agrochemicals.
Because it is a combination of two different action fungicides, CAPSTONE has a dual mode of action, giving it qualities such as excellent efficacy, longer duration of disease control, no cross-resistance, and resistance prevention. Farmers will be protected from losses caused by Neck Blast by using CAPSTONE at the proper time and using the proper technique.
ZAAFU, a systemic fungicide, has a unique formulation. Paddy Sheath Blight is a common disease in India, and Zaafu provides an excellent treatment for Sheath Blight and Sheath Rot in Paddy. It is a fungicide in the form of granules that are intended to be broadcast in the field with the first fertilizer top dressing. This simplifies application while also saving farmers labour costs associated with fungicide spraying.
