Omnivore on Wednesday announced that it had invested in eFeed, a producer of cutting-edge livestock solutions for animal nutrition and wellness. Under the OmniX Bio programme, which was first introduced in December 2021, this is Omnivore's third life sciences investment.
eFeed has created nutritional supplements for animals that can boost milk production while also enhancing the general health of cattle. The digital nutrition programme from eFeed additionally offers tailored ration balance, taking the location of the cattle and the accessibility of feedstock into account.
In order to facilitate access to medical care, the programme also links veterinary specialists with cow farmers. With the help of this money, eFeed will improve its R&D processes, broaden its farmer network, and concentrate on talent acquisition.
To disrupt the USD 14 billion Indian animal nutrition and health market, Pune-based eFeed was established in 2021. The three founders, Ankit Patel, Kumar Ranjan, and Ravi Chauhan, were all raised in rural areas of India.
Kumar has had two successful exits to MyGate and Roadzen as an entrepreneur. Ankit, an IIT Bombay graduate who had previously worked for Udaan, and Ravi established RyCabz, a firm that provides auto servicing. eFeed currently has a network of three lakh farmers and has introduced a number of products to promote cattle immunity, improve overall health, and improve lactation.
Kumar Ranjan, Co-Founder & CEO of eFeed, said, “Despite holding the global top spot in cattle population and dairy production until now, India lacks disruptive innovations in the animal nutrition and health (ANH) industry. We believe nutrition plays the most critical role in cattle health. By empowering farmers with localized and customized feed advisory supplemented by our premixes, eFeed is improving cattle health, milk output, and farmer incomes while lowering reliance on expensive compound feed and medicines."
"Omnivore is delighted to back eFeed under our OmniX Bio initiative, which seeks to blaze a path forward for agrifood life sciences in India. We are proud to support eFeed’s bold vision for revolutionizing animal nutrition and health in India", stated the Managing Partner of Omnivore, Mark Kahn.
