In order to empower the female workers in the agricultural sector by promoting efficient and ergonomic farm tools and equipment, Mahindra & Mahindra has launched a new project ‘Prerna’.
The first project under Prerna is a collaboration between Mahindra & Mahindra, the Central Institution for Women in Agriculture (CIWA), a department of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the NGO Pradan (Professional Assistance for Development Action).
According to the statement released by the company, the project will initially be launched in Odisha, with an intention to improve the lives of over 1,500 families across 30 plus villages. There are 100 million women are working in agri sector without using proper tools and equipment. The first project under ‘prerna’ will look after these issues, it says.
