Farm Equipment Sector (FES) of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited launched advanced precision potato planting machinery, “Planting Master Potato +”.
Company said, it has launched new equipment for potato planting in certain states.
Company also mentioned that, the machinery, “Planting Master Potato +” is designed and developed in collaboration with company’s Europe-based partner, Dewulf to suit Indian farming conditions and help offer higher yields and enhanced quality.
Mahindra and Dewulf had partnered with progressive farmers in the state in year 2019 to introduce the new precision potato planting machine. According to Mahindra and Mahindra, these farmers have registered an increase in yields, about 20-25% in compare to that of traditional potato planting methods.
India is second largest producer of Potato, but country lags behind in the yield, said the company. And yield per acre of land in India is 8.5 tonnes, that is much less in compare to that of Netherlands which is nearly 17 tonnes per acre of land.
Mahindra and Mahindra Farm Equipment Sector President Hemant Sikka said, “Our Country, being the world’s second largest potato producing Nation, needs advanced farm machinery to increase the yields and also to improve the quality. And with “Planting Master Potato +”, We are bringing this technology to Indian farmers to drive productivity and quality improvements in potato farming.”
He added one more thing that the equipment is also available on rental basis in some markets, and offer easy financing for purchase, making this new technology accessible to Indian farmers.
Crop yield is determined by many elements and the use of appropriate far machinery is one of the most important elements, said the company.
Company also added that the new machinery, Planting Master Potato + will be available for sale in Punjab, for sale and rent in Uttar Pradesh, and for rent in Gujrat through Mahindra’s rental entrepreneur network.
