HIL (India) Limited formerly known as Hindustan Insecticides Limited (HIL), a Govt. of India Enterprise, under the Department. of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India, was incorporated in March, 1954 with the objective of supplying DDT for National Malaria Eradication Programme launched by the Government of India. Subsequently, the company diversified into agro pesticides to meet the requirements of agriculture sector and has grown manifold with a turnover of Rs. 357.91 Crores in the year 2016-17.
Presently the company is also operating in agro inputs namely agro-chemicals, seeds and recently it ventured into fertilizers so that all the requirement of farming community can be met under one roof.
Under the Chairmanship of Dr. S P Mohanty, Hindustan Insecticides Limited, who is presently, the Chairman & Managing Director having additional charge apart from Director (Marketing), who took over HIL on 4th July 2016. The HIL has grown manifold. HIL has also entered into the field of safe and eco-friendly botanical and bio-pesticides for public health and plant protection.
He has advocated that the PESTICIDES to be termed as Plant Medicines to change the mindset of the farmers, and the consumers.
HIL has widened its product profile of technical products from 5 to 15 as on date. HIL is also at the advanced stage of development of technology for insecticidal treated nets which is currently being promoted by WHO as alternate vector control tool.
The authorized and paid up share capital of the Company were Rs. 100 crores and Rs. 91.33 crores respectively as on March 31, 2017. The shareholding of the Government of India in the company is 100 percent .
HIL is having three factory complexes located at Udyogmandal near cochin in southern region, Rasayani near Mumbai in western region and at Bathinda(Punjab) in the northern region and soon the company shall have manufacturing unit in Odisha in Eastern Region.
Company is not only serving the national farming community but also exporting its products to a number of countries such as Netherlands, UK, Jamaica, UAE, Phillipines, S Korea, Belgium, Guatemala, France, Germany, Argentina, Ethiopia, Egypt, Spain etc. for a morethan a decade. Its products are well accepted in the World Market.
