Dhanuka Agritech Limited organized a national-level workshop titled “Empowering Farmers: Advanced Technologies in Maize and Pulses Cultivation” on July 19, 2025, at Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. The event aimed to promote sustainable and profitable farming through modern cultivation practices, especially in maize and pulses, bringing together over 200 farmers alongside prominent experts from agricultural research and extension systems.
The event was attended by Dr. A.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology (CSAU&T), as the Chief Guest. Dr. Sain Dass, Former Director of ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, served as the Chief Speaker. Other distinguished attendees included Dr. R.K. Yadav, Director Extension, CSAU&T; Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Principal Scientist, ATARI Kanpur Zone 3; Dr. R.G. Agarwal, Chairman Emeritus, Dhanuka Agritech; and heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) from Kasganj and Raebareli.
The workshop focused on educating farmers about the latest technologies in maize and pulses cultivation, good agricultural practices, and the benefits of crop diversification. With maize increasingly recognized as a "wonder crop" due to its high profitability, experts highlighted the growing opportunities associated with its production and the need for incentivizing its cultivation.
Chief Speaker Dr. Sain Dass shared an insightful presentation on the current maize scenario in India, emphasizing how maize cultivation can significantly uplift farmer livelihoods. He detailed advanced techniques for maize farming and discussed the increasing domestic and industrial demand for the crop, urging farmers to adopt modern, science-based practices.
Dr. R.G. Agarwal emphasized holistic farm management as the key to sustainable growth. He discussed the importance of soil and water testing, judicious use of agricultural inputs, and authenticity verification through QR codes. Dr. Agarwal also urged farmers to support water harvesting and tree plantation efforts to mitigate climate challenges. Highlighting common pest and disease issues in maize, he introduced several new solutions from Dhanuka Agritech, including eco-friendly crop protection products and micronutrient applications to address declining soil biomass.
Dr. A.K. Singh, in his keynote address, praised Dhanuka for organizing an event focused on a critical crop like maize. He acknowledged India’s remarkable progress in agriculture since independence but highlighted emerging challenges due to climate change. Emphasizing the importance of seed quality as the most crucial agri-input, he cited data from NITI Aayog noting that rural GDP is now nearly equal to urban GDP, signaling a new era of prosperity for Indian farmers.
He strongly endorsed maize as a crop with enormous potential to increase farm incomes and appreciated Dhanuka’s product Sempra for its effectiveness against Motha weed in maize fields. Dr. Singh also encouraged farmers to follow scientists’ recommendations for pesticide use, pursue crop diversification, and place trust in India’s robust scientific research infrastructure.
Praveen Kumar from Dhanuka Agritech presented a detailed product portfolio customized for maize cultivation. He explained how Implode, Mesotrax, and Sempra offer effective weed management; Cover and Largo help combat insect pests such as fall armyworm; and Conika and Godiwa Super serve as reliable solutions for disease management. These products, developed with farmer needs in mind, reflect Dhanuka’s commitment to providing cutting-edge, affordable crop protection solutions.
This workshop is part of Dhanuka Agritech’s broader mission to deliver scientific knowledge and modern agri-technology to farmers. Under its MoU with ICAR and 15 agricultural universities across India, Dhanuka works closely with KVKs, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), and ICAR institutions to promote Integrated Pest and Weed Management, climate-resilient farming, and scientific input usage among Indian farmers.
