The 440th meeting of the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee granted registration for Pyroxasulfone technical domestic manufacture to Best Agrolife Limited, a major player in the Indian agrochemical sector. As a result, Best Agrolife Limited (BAL) will produce Pyroxasulfone Technical for the first time as an Indian agrochemical firm. In the same RC meeting, BAL also acquired the registration for indigenous manufacturing of Kresoxim Methyl Technical u/s 9(4), a significant pesticide.
A brand-new pre-emergence herbicide for wheat, corn, and soybeans is called pyroxasulfone. Wheat is the primary cereal crop in India. Approximately 29.8 million hectares of the country's entire land area are under the produce. While corn was being harvested throughout India the Kharif acreage planted with soybeans in the 2021 Kharif season was 120 lakh hectares or 9.7 million hectares. Pyroxasulfone manages the problematic weeds in these crops, ensuring their higher yields and better quality. It works by preventing plants from generating particularly long-chain fatty acids. It is more effective against broadleaf weeds and requires fewer application rates than other commercial herbicides.
Pyroxasulfone currently has a market value of over 450 crores, and in the years to come, demand will only grow. Pyroxasulfone was previously imported by India from other nations. But now, as part of the Indian government's "Make in India" drive, it will be locally produced and easily accessible to farmers. They will benefit greatly from this since they will receive a better product at a lower cost.
A versatile fungicide having a preventative, curative, and eradicative mode of action is kresoxim-methyl technical. A broad range of strobilurin called Kresoxim-Methyl provides good residual action and long-lasting crop disease protection. For the majority of crops, kresoxim methyl is particularly efficient against powdery mildew and has a positive greening impact. Additionally, it prevents blast, blight, downy mildew, rot, and dieback in crops including cotton, grapes, chilies, soybeans, tomatoes, potatoes, and cereals like wheat and maize.
