The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), marketer of products under the brand name Amul, has announced a strategic partnership with Spain’s Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches (COVAP) to introduce its flagship milk product in Spain and the European Union.

Under this collaboration, Amul Gold – fresh milk with 6% fat – has been officially launched in Spain and the EU. The launch event was held at the Embassy of India in Madrid in the presence of H.E. Dinesh K Patnaik, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Spain; D. Fernando Heredia Noguera, Deputy Director for International Relations and Community Affairs, Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; Amit Vyas, MD, Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd., Amul Dairy; Manoranjan Pani, CGM, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd.; and Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno, President, COVAP.

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (Amul) is the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, with over 3.6 million dairy farmers. It is also India’s largest consumer products brand with a turnover of more than USD 11 billion, handling over 12 billion litres of milk annually. Amul is the world’s 8th largest milk processor and operates 112 dairy plants across India, with a total milk handling capacity of 42 million litres per day.

Similarly, COVAP is Spain’s leading first-tier cooperative. Founded in 1959 in Pozoblanco, Córdoba, COVAP has over 2,000 active farmer-members and is a cornerstone of Spain’s agri-food sector. Its dairy plant is one of Europe’s most advanced and processes more than 400 million litres of milk every year. COVAP exports to over 30 countries, including the U.S., U.K., and various Asian markets.

This partnership marks the first-ever launch of Amul Milk in Europe, starting with Spain and gradually expanding to other countries including Portugal, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. The collaboration represents a win-win partnership between India and Spain, benefiting dairy farmers in both nations.

By combining COVAP’s advanced technological expertise and high-quality member milk with the Amul brand’s growing international reputation for premium dairy products, the partnership is set to deliver significant mutual advantages.
