Chandra Shekara, Director General, MANAGE, Padma Shri Dr. Khader Vali, Millet Man of India, Padma Shri Shubhash Palekar, Agricultural Scientist, Author, and Farmer, Dr. S. Glory Swarupa, Director General, National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSM), Hyderabad, Dr. C. Tara Sathyavathi, Director, ICAR- Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), Hyderabad, are the Chief guests for the Program. Total 31 delegates from 11 countries are participating in this global meet.
During this event, Dr. P. Chandra Shekara, Director General of MANAGE, and Manoj Nardeosingh, Secretary General, AARDO, extended a warm welcome to all participants. Dr. P. Chandra Shekara highlighted, coordinated efforts are crucial to address issues and enhance millet production for improved food security. Padma Shri Subhash Palekar, an agricultural scientist, author, and farmer, highlighted the need for modifications in the processing and marketing of millets.
On this occasion, Padma Shri Dr. Khader Vali, the Millet Man of India, emphasized the importance of addressing issues recognizing the problems of millet production, and studying the corporatization of the food system. He highlighted that “Millet can assure health”, suggesting that we should create food products from millet. By enhancing millet production and making improvements in processing techniques and value addition, we can address food security issues. He said we need to change the mental awareness of people about millet.
During this event, the "African-Asian Journal of Rural Development" was unveiled by all the dignitaries present. At the end of the program, all the respected guests officially opened the millet exhibition stalls at the MANAGE campus.
