Schools are shut due to coronavirus pandemic and they will remain closed for few more days. This situation has left kids under house arrest. With no access to playgrounds and school activities, kids might get bored very easily. Keeping kids busy during this COVID-19 lockdown is a major concern nowadays for parents.
Here are some easy activities that will help parents to engage their kids to keep this time enjoyable for them:
Use the technology, YES, you read that right
If done right, it can be a wonderful way to engage your kids in learning something new every day. There are multiple learning apps and cartoons that can supplement their learning and also help them with the school’s curriculum. If you are already allowing them some screen time, it would be better if that is used in the right direction.
Get creative with DIY’s
There are so many things in our homes that can be used for this purpose. Papers, glues, crayons, balloons etc. It is an inexpensive way to keep children busy. You can give them tasks and encourage them to make something creative out of it. You can also give them small prizes to boost their confidence and interest in these activities.
Making a schedule
This is very important as schools are closed. Make a timetable for kids to wake up, bathing, learning activities, eating. This will help in maintaining discipline and both parents and kids will feel normal. You can also give them some assignments like they used to get in schools. Do make sure that the schedule has some flexibility to make it easier to follow.
Tell them stories
Storytelling is a great way to peak your kids interest and enjoyment. Encourage them to make elaborate stories with their stuffed animals and toys. You can also take a part in this, just use their toys and make a make up a positive story. Then, show and tell them, it will be more fun this way as kids are natural at this.
Teach them how to exercise or to do yoga
It is one of the healthiest things you can do with your kids daily. It will help in providing a positive start to the day of your kids and yours also. It will create a discipline for them to workout daily. It will also be a great way to teach your kids the importance of good health.
