The beginning of winters can be dangerous for your health if you do not follow a nutritious diet along with a balanced lifestyle.  With shorter days and colder weather, it can be difficult in finding ways to stay healthy and fit. And this can lead to a weakened immune system that can further pose a greater risk of developing illness or injury to the body. Hence by recognizing the safety risks and patterns of illness well before time is the key to prevent them.

Here are some winter wellness tips and ideas that will keep you healthy, fit, and safe this season and beyond.

Tips to follow in winter:

1. Exercise regularly

As the winter season can increase the risk for weather-related illness or injury, the biggest risk to your overall health can be due to lack of exercise. By maintaining proper diet and exercise routines, you will keep away from illness. If you don’t get enough time for exercise, make sure you do a little walking daily to keep yourself warm.

2. Eat more fruits and vegetables

In winters many of us easily get tempted by outside or unhealthy food. However, it is important that you still have a healthy diet so include a good amount of fruits and vegetables daily in your diet. Winter vegetables like carrots, peas, spinach, and turnips are very healthy and can be cooked in a variety of ways. Also, you can eat varieties of fruits available in the market.

3. Drink Tulsi Tea

You can also drink tulsi tea for antioxidants and other nutrients.  In winters, people generally get caught by cold and flu and here tulsi or basil can help in enhancing their immune system to fight the viruses. Tulsi tea also improves your body’s overall defense mechanism, decreases stress, boosts immunity, improves stamina, fights and prevents chronic disease, and provides a rich supply of antioxidants and other nutrients.

4. Use organic honey

Organic honey is just amazing. It is nature’s nectar that not just enhances your taste buds but also contains numerous vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can boost your immunity levels to fight winter allergies.

5. Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is a great liquid that is widely used for beauty and health. It contains properties that relieve your sinus problems during the cold winter season, give moisture to your dry hair, and also enlivens your skin if taken with water in the morning.

6. Consume oil-rich foods

One great piece of winter advice is to include oil-rich foods in your daily diet. Nuts especially walnuts and almonds, ground flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower, olive oil, ghee, and green leafy vegetables contain omega 3’s and helps in purifying the skin and liver.

7. Utilize organic coconut oil

Another concern that many people suffer during the winter months is dry, flaky skin caused by the chilly weather and dehydration. Organic virgin coconut oil may be the ideal all-around elixir for them. Coconut oil moisturizes the skin, protects it from drying out, and strengthens the connective tissue beneath it. The skin remains healthy and nourished throughout the winters thanks to its antimicrobial characteristics. It's also a good idea to stay hydrated to keep your skin healthy.

8. Use Herbs

You should also use herbs such as Amla, Aloe vera, Triphala, Shunthi, Manjishtha, Anantamool, Chandan as they contain gentle detoxifying properties and helps to maintain perfect moisturizing balance.

9. Drink lots of water

Also, ensure that you drink plenty of water every day to keep your body hydrated. But it is better to drink water warm rather than cold or normal water.

10. Sun exposure

Sun exposure is also very essential in the winters. Sunlight not only provides Vitamin D to the body but also keeps you warm. So instead of sitting inside the blankets, you must go outside and get the required exposure from the sun.
