The Date palm is a tree that grows in the desert.  Its fruits are known as dates and it is commonly found in the tropics and deserts.  This tree is also known as the Tree of Life.  Date palm is also the national symbol of Saudi Arabia and Israel.

This tree grows up to 25 m in length and has the some uses as its fruit.  It is a solitary tree without branches.

Dates are especially important in Muslim areas. During religious ceremonies, especially during Ramadan, believers use dates to break their fast.  Due to its fructose content, dates are easily absorbed by the body.  It is used to break the fast, possibly because it has the ability to produce digestive juices.  After a long break from eating, dates can be used to produce digestive juices.

Benefits of Dates

In the Arabian countries, it is a beautiful sight to see bunches of dates in different colours along the way. They are found in colours such as yellow and red.  It weighs between 6 kg and 12 kg. The palm has been cultivated in Iraq and Egypt for a long time.

Dates are rich in nutrients that are essential for the human body. It is good for those who work hard to avoid diseases.  Studies show that dates are good for weight loss.

Dates are rich in potassium.  So this effect can be to lower cholesterol.  Dates are also good for preventing stroke.

As it contains a lot of fiber, dates can improve the physical functions related to the digestive process.

Manganese, Magnesium and Selenium are essential for bone strength. Dates are rich in these nutrients and can help prevent bone loss.  Women can eat dates to prevent diseases like anemia.  Due to its high iron content, dates can help prevent anemia. It is recommended for pregnant women.  Containing B6, it is good to eat dates to improve brain function.
