Spine Gourd or spiny gourd has many names, which include, Kantola, bristly balsam pear, teasle gourd, and prickly carolaho. It is a flowering plant of the Cucurbitaceae/gourd family. Spine gourd is consumed as a vegetable all over India and some regions of South Asia. It is used locally and also exported.
