Organic crops are grown without the usage of any fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, or bioengineered genes (GMOs). Organic foods are a product of healthy agricultural practices.
Due to the exponential demand in the organic food market, many organic farmers are taking shortcuts. The organic food principles are hard to keep up with when there are large volumes of food to trade. Given are some ways for you to make sure the food products that you're buying are actually healthy and organic.
Appearance
The food products will never be identical. If the food is organically and naturally grown, two of the same product will never look alike. In nature, it is impossible to find even two leaves that look exactly the same. So, next time you go shopping for organic food items, beware of the identical-looking ones!
Size
Organically grown fruits, vegetables, and grains are not huge in size. So, if you do see some huge cauliflower, potatoes, eggplants, capsicum, cabbages, or bottle gourd labeled as organic, it is advised not to transfer them to your plate. However, it is possible to grow huge vegetables and fruits organically, but it is not the norm and is rare to ever encounter.
Insects
We all get cold feet when we're buying our pulses and find insects in them. But, it turns out finding insects in your pulses and grains is good news. Naturally grown pulses and grains such as moong sabut daal, brown rice, white rice, etc. are bound to have insects in them. The insects start residing in them after 2-3 months of their storage and especially in the months of rain. So, next time you find a worm in your pulses, don't be afraid just wash it properly and dry them up in the sunlight. Worms do not contaminate the food pesticides are the ones, responsible for it.
Taste
Naturally grown fruits and vegetables are just going to taste better than your regular ones. While cooking, you will realize that you need less amount of spices for your naturally grown vegetables as they already have so many natural flavors.
Similarly, naturally grown fruits are juicier, sweeter hence, tastier. Due to the spraying of acetylene gas on your regular bananas, it becomes watery. Organic bananas are going to taste much better.
