With World Ozone Day commencing, it is important to gauge the problem which is not an individual, not a national but a global concern indeed. Fuels like Diesel engines are extremely important in modern society's day-to-day operations.

It is widely employed in inland and marine transportation, as well as providing electrical power, and it is also used in a variety of farming, construction, and industrial activities. Diesel is a key aspect of public and private transportation, and its use is likely to continue and grow in the near future.

However, Diesel is one of the most significant contributors to global pollution problems, and the problem is only going to get worse as the number of diesel-powered vehicles grows. Approx 2.68kgs of CO2 / 1 liter Diesel carbon emission is caused just by diesel alone, and other energy fuels are contributors for the same.

While there have been debates that Diesel is known to be an eco-friendly opinion for cars these days, and they do not emit much CO2 as other gasoline cars, it is our responsibility to reduce and be environmentally concerned and make a small difference from our end that may lead to huge results.

Particulate filters in the automotive exhaust can cut Particulate Matter (PM) emissions by more than 90%, but they need to be kept in good working order and maintained on a regular basis. They can also produce more nitrogen dioxide, making diesel one of the most harmful gases. Diesel emissions can lead to a variety of cardiovascular and respiratory ailments, as well as cancer, in addition to polluting the air, water, and soil, reducing visibility, and creating global climate change. It is considered to be one of the major causes of ozone layer depletion that leads to global warming.

As responsible individuals, it is important to focus on energy distribution procedures that help in reducing carbon emissions and help conserve manpower and the wastage/spilling of diesel. Imagine how much trouble could be saved with efficient doorstep delivery services. If we look at it in a positive light, in the next five years if 50% diesel is delivered through an app at the doorstep, we will be making an impact worth planting 23.9 crore trees, which equals twice the size of the city of Mumbai. The students from an early age need to be trained accordingly to think big and in the long run, and dream, innovate and make the impossible happen.

Using technology to our benefit is a blessing in disguise. Mobile apps and inquiries can help determine the exact requirement of fuel and limit the usage to a certain extent, making judicious use of the resources available to us. These small practices which we can follow will help not only us but make a big difference for the future generation. One needs a vision and the willingness to make the impossible work out, and remain fueled with the power of YES to make a difference. Be the change you want to see in the world today for a better tomorrow.
