The crops, french bean and tomato, are grown all year. Despite the fact that Jharkhand is a mineral-rich state, agriculture employs more than 70% of the people. Paddy is the principal crop farmed by almost all farmers, mostly during the kharif season. Farmers also plant horticulture crops such as fruits, vegetables, spices, and certain vegetables such as cole.
Jharkhand is rich in medicinal plant biodiversity. Jharkhand's forest area accounts for almost 40% of the entire land area. Approximately 32 tribal clans predominate in various regions and use therapeutic plants based on traditional knowledge. More than 160 plant species with medicinal significance are employed by indigenous populations who lack contemporary medical services. However, knowledge is still insufficient.
