The Regional Central Integrated Pest Management Centre-Faridabad under the Directorate of Plant Protection Quarantine & Storage inaugurated a 5 Day IPM orientation Training programme for the Agricultural & Horticultural Extension Workers of the State of Haryana. The training programme is being held at the Horticulture Training Institute based at Uchani, Karnal (Haryana) India.
The programme was inaugurated at the Horticulture Training Institute yesterday morning. The Chief Guest were Dr. Joginder Singh- JDH cum Principal HTI, along with other dignitaries i.e. Dr. Aditya Pratap- DDA, Karnal, Dr. O.P. Verma, JD (IPM), Dr.Sunita Panday-DD (IPM), Dr. Dhahiya-HTI Karnal. The training programme is being held under the leadership of Dr. Jasvir Singh-JD RCIPMC Faridabad.
This IPM orientation training program focuses on the IPM technologies related to both agricultural and horticultural crops. The 5-day long programme will cover the IPM technology for major agricultural crops i.e. Mustard, Wheat and Chickpea and Rabi vegetables.
IPM techniques emphasizing the use pest control involving biological control measures i.e. pheromones, microbials, etc. for pest control. The program is also to impart the importance need based pesticide use for crop protection.
Looking into the recent past experience, this IPM training programme goes a notch above the usual such training programs earlier organized as it also focuses on disseminating information with respect to Dessert Locust Control and the Fall armyworm.
Experts from the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage, Department of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, GOI will be sharing their expertise for the benefit of the State Extension Officials attending the program. A total of 40 officials of the State Agriculture & Horticulture department are expected to benefit from the training.
