The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) that sells its dairy products under the brand name 'Amul', today increased the prices of milk by Rs. 2 per litre for all markets except Gujarat.

The GMCCF issued a statement saying, "We would like to tell you that the price of Amul pouch milk (all variants) has been raised upwards as under with effect from February 2, 2023 night dispatch (February 3, 2023 am)."

"This price hike is being done due to an increase in the overall cost of operation and production of milk. The cattle feeding cost alone has increased to approximately 20 percent compared to last year. Considering the rise in input costs, our member unions have also increased farmers' prices in the range of 8-9 percent over the previous year," the statement added.

Prices for Amul Gold increased from 61 to 63 rupees per liter, and the 500 ml box now costs 32 rupees as compared to 31 before. Prices for buffalo milk increased from 63 to 65 rupees per liter.

Following Amul's move, Mother Dairy similarly declared an increase in full-cream milk and cow milk pricing by 2 rupees per liter beginning on October 16 in Delhi-NCR and certain other areas in North India.

Following the revision, Amul Gold will be available for 66 rupees per liter, Amul Taaza for 54, Amul cow milk for 56, and Amul A2 buffalo milk for 70.

The GCMMF last increased the cost of Amul Gold (full cream) and buffalo milk by Rs 2 per liter each in October, with the exception of Gujarat.
