On January 26 during Republic Day celebrations, the grand parade of marching contingents of the Indian Armed Forces and the Paramilitary forces would pass through the Kartavya Path. Along with the Beating the Retreat event at Vijay Chowk and the Prime Minister's NCC rally, there will also be children's cultural performances, acrobatic motorbike rides, a fly-past, and tableaux exhibits from the States and Central Ministries/Departments.

Number of viewers

This year's Republic Day 2023 march in the nation's capital will draw about 45,000 spectators, according to a senior Ministry of Defense (MoD) official.

Giridhar Aramane, the defense secretary, gave a media briefing on the arrangements for the Republic Day festivities. He stated: "This year, about 32, 000 tickets will be available online for sale, and around 12,000 e-invitations will be sent. Additionally, there will be specific tickets that the general public may purchase physically.

Except during the COVID-19 period, when only about 25,000 people were invited, the number of persons invited to see the march in prior years has generally been about 1.25 lakh.

Why have the numbers been reduced?

According to the defense secretary, the numbers for the general public are the same, but fewer VVIPs are being invited. "It was over 50,000 to 60,000 earlier, but it's down to 12,000 today."

Chief Guest

Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the president of Egypt, is the chief guest this year. Additionally, a 120-member Egyptian contingent will march at the Republic Day celebration on Kartavaya Path for the first time, according to Defense Secretary Aramane.

He claims that this year's tableaus would come from 16 different states and six different Union ministries.

Theme

He claims that the theme of this year's celebrations will be "Janbhagidari." As a result, there will be a larger participation, and everything has been organized properly.

Special invitees such as milk booth sellers, vegetable vendors, small grocery vendors, shramjeevi (laborers) of Central Vista projects and their families, and maintenance staff from Kartavya Path will sit in the front row.

Special Arrangements

The government has declared that it will provide viewers who have valid tickets or invitation cards for the RD Parade with a special free metro trip. Additionally, they must leave the metro stations at Central Secretariat and Udhyog Bhawan.

Republic Day Celebrations

Freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose's birthday celebrations, complete with military tattoos and tribal dancing, will kick off the weeklong festivities on January 23. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi will host these for two days, according to the Ministry of Defence. Everything will come to an end on January 30, which is Martyrs' Day.

Events Including Military Tattoos & Tribal Dance

Navy Band, Pan Motor and Hot Air Balloon, Horse Show, Thangta, Khukri Dance, Gadka, Mallakhamb, Kalaripayattu, Motorcycle Display, and Air Warrior Drill Team are just a few of the activities that will be taking place.

Twenty tribal performers from representing "Aadi Shaurya" will perform tribal dances on both days from all around the nation. In addition, Bollywood singer Kailash Kher will entertain the crowd. There should be about 60,000 spectators there to see the performances. According to the government, the events are free. But one has to book online.

NCC

198 foreign cadets from 19 different nations have been invited to this year's parade. And among them are the 166 cadets and 32 officers who are expected to attend the Prime Minister's NCC Rally on January 27.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative

The Advanced Light Helicopter, Main Battle Tank, NAG Missile system, K9 Vajra, BrahMos, and Akash Missile are just a few of the indigenous platforms that will be on display during the parade.

Beating the Retreat Ceremony

The defense secretary estimates that 1,250 seats, or around 10% of all available seats, have been set aside for the general public this year. A drone show and projection mapping will be present this year, much as last year.
