Manav Dahuja, a dynamic leader and the son of a banker, currently heads the International Markets division at Chaman Lal Setia Exports Limited, a renowned name in the basmati rice industry. With over five decades of excellence, the company exports premium basmati rice to more than 90 countries worldwide.
Exploring Opportunities in Iraq
In October 2024, Dahuja made a significant visit to Iraq, participating in the Baghdad International Fair to engage with overseas buyers and strengthen relationships in the region. Reflecting on his experience, Dahuja highlighted how valuable it was to connect with the Iraqi people and understand their unique requirements for rice varieties. This visit marks the company's growing focus on the Iraqi market, a promising opportunity for expansion.
Seizing New Opportunities with Policy Shifts
Dahuja also addressed the recent Indian government's decision to lift the Minimum Export Price (MEP) on basmati rice, describing it as a strategic move that opens new doors for collaboration. By easing export restrictions, this policy change is expected to enhance trade and foster growth across international markets, including Iraq.
Speaking at the Baghdad event, Dahuja emphasized Chaman Lal Setia's unwavering commitment to quality, affordability, and timely delivery. He noted the high demand for basmati rice varieties like 1121, 1509, 1401, and 1718 in Iraq, reiterating the company's dedication to meeting these needs. “We are eager to collaborate with importers and merchants who share our vision of serving the community responsibly,” he remarked.
He further expressed, As an Indian company, we take immense pride in bringing the finest quality basmati rice, a symbol of our heritage, to the global stage. Our mission is to collaborate with importers, trade merchants, and individuals who are not only committed to serving their communities with excellence but also share our passion for upholding the values of integrity, trust, and quality. Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen India’s reputation as a global leader in rice exports and contribute to building lasting international partnerships.
