Chithirai Festival, Tamil Nadu
Chithirai Festival, one of the religious festivals observed in South India in April, lasts approximately two weeks! Lord Shiva (Sundareswarar) and Goddess Meenakshi (Lord Vishnu's sister) married at the event. Throughout the event, there are several processions, beginning with the flag hoisting ceremony. The celebrations go to Kallazhagar Temple in Alagar Hills near Madurai after the holy couple's wedding.
