Nursery Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria, Documents Required & Important Dates

The process of nursery admission for the academic year 2022 will start on 15^th December 2022 in Delhi. Application forms for admission will be available at schools till 7 January 2022, at a fee of Rs 25. It must be noted that the purchase of a prospectus is not mandatory.

Criteria of Nursery Admission

The criteria listed by most of the schools for admissions to the entry level classes include:

• Distance of the student from his/her residence to school.

• Single child.

• First child.

• Sibling quota (studying in that school).

• Parents being alumni of the school.

Points applied to different categories and order in which the schools prefer the criteria varies from school to school.

Upper Age Limit

The government has fixed an upper age limit of less than 4 years to be eligible for nursery class, less than 5 years for the KG and less than 6 years for entry into Class 1.

EWS category

25 percent seats in pre-school, pre-primary and Class 1 has been reserved for the economically weaker sections (EWS) or disadvantaged groups (DG). However no schedule of the EWS admissions has been released so far.

Documents Needed for Nursery Admission 

Here is a list of important documents needed at the time of admission:

For Residence proof, parents or guardians can bring any one of the below-mentioned document:

• Ration Card or Smart Card issued in the name of parents (either mother or father with name of the child in it).

• Domicile certificate of the child or of his parents.

• Voter I-Card of mother or father.

• Electricity bill or Water bill or Telephone bill or Passport in the name of parents.

• Aadhaar card or UlD card of the parents.

For sibling criteria: Many schools in Delhi ask for the tuition fee receipt or any other valid school document of the sibling studying in that particular school.

For alumni criteria: Schools demand documents that prove the alumnus has/had passed out Class 10^th or 12^th from the school.

Important Dates

Important dates that the parents need to keep in mind:

• Start of admission process and availability of forms – 15 December 2021

• Last date of submission of application forms - 7 January 2022

• 1^st list of selected candidates - 4 February 2022

• 2^nd list of selected candidates - 21 February 2022

• Closing of admission process – 31 March, 2022
