Farmer’s have always been the pride of our nation and as the primary food providers of the country, it is important for us and our government to look after their welfare. So let’s look back at some of the schemes that the Indian government has launched to benefit our farmers in recent years.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY):
in order to provide a social and financial security net for Small and Marginal Farmers (SMF) who have little or no savings for old age and to support them in the event of a loss of livelihood, the government has decided to implement another new Central Sector Scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY), which will provide these farmers with an old-age pension. On reaching the age of 60, qualifying small and marginal farmers would be given a minimum fixed pension of Rs. 3000/-, subject to certain exclusion criteria.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN):
The Central Government launched a new Central Sector Scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, to provide financial assistance to all farmers' families across the nation, allowing them to cover expenditures associated with agriculture and allied activities, as well as home requirements (PM-KISAN). The plan seeks to offer a payment of Rs. 6000/- per year to farmers' families in three monthly payments of Rs. 2000/-, with some exclusions for higher-income groups. More than 11.5 million farmer families have received a total of Rs. 1.6 lakh crore thus far.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY):
A crop insurance plan called Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) was started in the Kharif 2016 season with the goal of providing greater insurance coverage to crops for risk mitigation. With a minimal premium contribution from farmers, this system provides insurance coverage for all phases of the agricultural cycle, including post-harvest risks in certain circumstances. Farmers contributed over Rs. 21450 crore as their part of the premium during this time, against which claims totalling over Rs. 101875 crore (provisional) were paid.
Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana's "per drop, more crop" initiative:
Drip/sprinkler irrigation is being pushed as part of the "per drop, more crop" effort, which aims to maximise water efficiency while lowering input costs and improving output. The Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana's (PMKSY PDMC) Per Drop More Crop component aims to boost water usage efficiency at the farm level by using Micro Irrigation technologies, such as drip and spray irrigation systems. During 2019-20 and 2020-21, a total of 20.39 lakh hectares were covered under the project, with about 16 lakh farmers benefiting from micro-irrigation. During 2019-20 and 2020-21, states would receive Rs 5262.20 crore in government aid under the PMKSY-PDMC. A total of Rs. 4000.00 crore (B.E.) has been set aside for the scheme's execution in 2021-22, with Rs. 351.50 crore already distributed to states.
The e-NAM programme is launched with the goal of providing farmers with a transparent and competitive online trading platform.

1000 marketplaces have already been connected with the E-NAM Platform in 18 states and three UTs.

As of 24.11.2021, a total volume of 4.99 crore MT & 10.57 crore numbers (Bamboo, Betel Leaves, Coconut, Lemon & Sweet corn) with a collective worth of approximately Rs. 1.57 lakh crore of trade has been recorded on the e-NAM platform. So far, more than 1.72 crore farmers and 2.04 lakh traders have been registered with the e-NAM platform
