A cattle fair was organized in Solan, Himachal Pradesh recently where smart & powerful buffaloes from across India were showcased and it seems that India has found another “Sultan”. Sultan was a murrah buffalo worth 21 crores who died of a heart attack a few months ago. He was famous for his beauty & the quality of his semen.
His oiled body, smooth grey-black hide & glittering eyes used to attract everyone. His sperms used to fetch its owner over Rs 90 lakhs every year as there was a huge demand for his semen.
A buffalo just like sultan, who belonged to Fazilka, Punjab, was brought to the exhibition. This buffalo is named Modi by his owner, Virendra Singh. He has claimed that this buffalo had even defeated Sultan in a fight and is therefore worth more than him.
What’s so special about this buffalo?
Modi- The buffalo is 5 feet 9 inches tall buffalo & eats 20 kind of food every day. The cost of taking care of Fazilka's buffalo is more than Rs 1 crore annually. Seeing the specialties of this buffalo, Union Animal Husbandry Minister Parushottam Rupala was so impressed that he declared it the permanent champion of Solan cattle fair.
Virendra Singh told that this buffalo is only six years old, but it can compete with an elephant. Its height is 5.9 feet. It is the pride of whichever cattle fair it shows up in! It captures everyone's heart and always comes first. It came in the exhibition at Solan Nauni University yesterday, where Union Animal Husbandry Minister Purushottam Rupala was the chief guest. He was also very impressed with this buffalo and he also declared this buffalo as permanent champion.
Its owner Virendra Singh, who is a lawyer by profession, was very happy when the buffalo was declared the permanent winner. Today the whole of Punjab and their village takes pride in this buffalo.
Know these specialties of this buffalo
About 1 crore is spent annually in the care and feeding of buffaloes. He walks five kilometers every day. It is oil massaged after bathing. Its mother Lakshmi gives 25 liters of milk. It is specially invited in national level exhibitions.
