Minister of Fisheries Emphasizes Importance of Advanced Breeding Technologies

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav and Kisan Bhagidhari Prathmiktha Hamari Abhiyan, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying is organizing an awareness programme on entrepreneurship schemes and other beneficiary-oriented flagship programmes.

It is accomplished through the network of Common Service Centers by holding 8000 village-level camps across the country. This will take place from April 25th to April 28th, 2022. Every day, one lakh farmers will register at Common Service Centers across the country.

Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, addressed farmers connected through camps yesterday and informed them that the realigned National Livestock Mission (NLM) and Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) schemes now include breeder farm entrepreneurs and fodder entrepreneurs.

NLM will help create rural entrepreneurship and better livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth and livestock farmers in the cattle, dairy, poultry, sheep, goat, piggery, feed, and fodder sectors, paving the way toward Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

One lakh farmers from Northern Eastern region states, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal participated. He emphasized the significance of adopting advanced breeding technologies and putting them into practice on the ground. He also urged farmers to promote artificial insemination (AI) and silage production by taking advantage of various federal schemes.

Jatindra Nath Swain, Secretary (DoF & DAHD I/c), informed the farmers about the Pradhan Mantri Mantsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF). Fishermen and fish farmers from all over the country can benefit from the Department of Fisheries' flagship schemes, he added.

He also stated that the Ministry's entrepreneurship schemes would aid in the development of entrepreneurship by creating forward and backward linkages for the produce available in the unorganized sector and connecting it to the organized sector.

During the event, there was a briefing on Departmental entrepreneurship schemes such as PMMSY, an informative session on Livestock Management during the summer season and Fodder Management, and success story presentations. Attendees were given detailed information about these schemes, as well as for instructions on how to apply through the CSC's scheme portal.
