The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dima Hasao, Assam has organized a 6-day Skill Training for Rural Youth (STRY) on 'Fish Rearing & Management' at the State Veterinary & Dispensary Conference Hall, Dima Hasao, district from 23rd to 28th.
The training programme was sponsored by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), which is part of the Government of India's Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. Jadav Gogoi – Additional Director Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, (Hills) Dima Hasao, the guest of honor, Rimsika Engtipi, District Fisheries Development Officer (I/C), Dr. Bhairab Kakati – D.V.O Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Dima Hasao, and the Chairman of the training programme, Rashmita Saikia, Sr (In charge).
Parkey Gogoi, Subject Matter Specialist, Horticulture, started the session with a welcoming address.
The Course Director of the training programme, Kabin Medhi (Subject Matter Specialist – Fisheries), briefed the participants on the objectives and significance of such district-wide training programme.
Rimsika Engtipi, the guest of honor, urged the farmers to take full advantage of this skill-oriented training programme for the development of fish farming skills in order to maximize fish production in the district. The chief guest urged all trainees to take maximum benefits of such training programmes, in which varied experts from line departments and KVK scientists of various subject areas collaborate to instruct farmers in fisheries and aquaculture and its related sectors.
Rashmita Saikia, Sr. Scientist & Head (In charge) of the training programme emphasized the importance of scientific farming practices in making the district self-sufficient in fish production as well as all production systems in the agri-allied sector through collaborative efforts of line departments and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dima Hasao. She also urged farmers to take maximum advantage of this skill training programme.
