The Karnataka Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association (KPFBA) today announced that the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), part of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, is collaborating with the KPFBA for expanding skill development in the poultry agriculture ecosystem in Karnataka.
Dr Satender Arya CEO of ASCI stated, “The poultry sector is getting more and more organised by the day with modern equipment and practices, requiring skills at the ground level. The KPFBA as an organisation has been in the forefront of imparting skills to the poultry farmers as well as those in the organised poultry sector. By doing this, a new poultry eco-system is coming in place in the country which is good for the growth of the sector, per se.”
The President of KPFBA, Mr. Akhilesh Babu, thanked ASCI for the collaboration and said, “The Association is continuously working on improving the efficiencies in the poultry sector. The sector has come a long way with state-of-the-art equipments, handling and other practices. As an association, we are keen on best practices in the sector and it goes a long way in adding to the economic development of the country.”
“With this collaboration, KPFBA will open up avenues for employees in their member companies to get assessed and certified in alignment with the government’s certification norms; will have a voice in the National Occupational Standards which is updated by ASCI; and will have access to consultancy services to enhance competencies of manpower’, added Mr. Akhilesh Babu.
The poultry sector (both breeder and commercial farms) are run with semi skilled or illiterate workforce and there is constant short supply of workforce. The collaboration would help increase skilled manpower and also be in line with modern practices.

It was established in 1991 to promote the development of poultry breeding and farming in Karnataka, where the occupation is a major activity. The association is registered under the Karnataka Societies Act 196, u/s 12 A (a) 80G of the Income-tax Act 1961.
KPFBA aims at providing facilities for exchange of information and opinion of interest to poultry breeding farms and poultry farmers. It believes in the advantages of united action to accomplish goals where individuals will not be in a position to accomplish on their own.
