Kerala to Set Up Animal Ambulance Services & Tele-Veterinary Units

Animal ambulance service and tele-veterinary units will be launched across the State, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister J. Chinchurani has said.

Animal ambulance services and tele-veterinary units will be launched across the state, according to J. Chinchurani, Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development.

On Monday, she was inaugurating a two-day district-level dairy farmers' gathering organized by the Dairy Development Department at the Varanad Devi temple grounds.

Chinchurani stated that the tele-veterinary units will be equipped with X-ray machines and portable ultrasound machines. The department has ensured that veterinary doctors were available in all block panchayats to provide assistance round the clock.

She stated that the department has sanctioned funds for the construction of a facility in Kuttanad to store extra paddy straw.

The construction of elevated multipurpose community cattle shed in Nedumudi grama panchayat's Chembumpuram was approaching completion. Chinchurani stated the initiative will be launched shortly by integrating it in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government's recently announced 100-day action plan.

Chembumpuram's three-story elevated cattle shed were being constructed with 15 cents contributed by the Chembumpuram Dairy Cooperative Society. The 5,496-square-foot building will shelter 105 cattle during floods, as well as an office room, milk collection/milk testing rooms, and a conference room. The government has already approved Rs.1.8 crore for the project.

Dairy Village Project

At the event, Agriculture Minister P. Prasad launched the Thanneermukkom grama panchayat's dairy village project.

Cattle exhibitions, seminars, and training for dairy farmers, among other Programs, are being held as part of the meet.

Saji Cherian, the Minister of Fisheries, will officiate at the valedictory function on Tuesday.

 

P.P. Chitharanjan, MLA, presided over the inaugural function. Daleema Jojo, MLA, Thanneermukkom grama panchayat president Manjula Suresh, and others attended.
